This Colt is a fantastic physical type who covers the ground with ease.

He ticked all the boxes during our rigorous inspection process. He is very well put together. A great type, lovely head and eye and was rated very highly. He has excellent angles with loads of scope. A great walker with a good overstep.

He looks like he will race from 1400m to 2000m, which Champion Training Partnership Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott know all about!

Savabeel by Zabeel is a champion New Zealand based stallion whose results speak for themself.  He has produced over 130 individual Stakes Winners and his progeny have won over 260 stakes races which is unmatched in New Zealand. His service fee for 2023 is NZ$110,000, the highest of any New Zealand based sire. He is well known for producing some of the best middle-distance horses of recent times, he himself winning both the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) and Group 1 Champion Stakes (2000m).

Savabeel boasts a fantastic strike rate of 72% winners to runners and 11% stakes winners to runners.

His yearlings have averaged over NZ$263,000 at the 2024 Karaka National yearling sale, with NZ$650,000 as his most expensive yearling at Karaka 2024.


Surveillance by Rip Van Winkle ran over 1400m in New Zealand and has black type littered throughout the page. She is a half-sister to KAZLARK, who came 2nd in the Group 2 Spring Stakes at only his third start and looks to make his return to the races soon after injury. Her Dam, SARWATCH 4 wins 1 at 2. NZB Filly of the year in 2000, winning the ARC Royal Stakes Group 2 and Hakes Bay Gold Trail Stakes Group 3.

This colt is her second foal, first foal is a 2yo.


The heart of Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing is the historic Tulloch Lodge, located at Bowral Street, Kensington, seven kilometres from the Sydney CBD. Gai & Adrian also have access to 24 boxes at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne. At Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing horses are accommodated where they are happiest. They have access to day yards, are housed on luxurious straw bedding and provided with superior feed, care and supervision. TJ Smith made significant contributions to current thinking around horse nutrition and was renowned for his ‘bone-and-muscle’ regime that produced fit and strong horses. Gai & Adrian have blended his legacy with their own observations to ensure that every horse in their care achieves its full potential.

In addition to Tulloch Lodge, Gai & Adrian train out of Tempest Morn Lodge, Farnan Lodge, Bounding Away Lodge, Desert War Lodge, and Sugar Rush Lodge which provide direct access to Randwick Racecourse. The stable also obtain 24 boxes at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne and have arrangements in other capital cities so that horses are positioned to achieve the best results.

Training facilities at Royal Randwick are second-to-none. The techniques employed by Gai & Adrian include training horses on a variety of track surfaces, swimming - both in the equine pool and at nearby Botany Bay, the hand walking of horses over Randwick’s hills, treadmill work and the use of many modern aids.
